The New York Times has a lengthy piece on how successful sports talk radio has become for local advertisers, despite the fact that the format might not be the top rated station in a market. The article begins with a success story from the Goldberg law firm which uses Seattle station KFXX-AM to reach men. The station was ranked 21st in June. [read more]

Wisconsin sports talker Bill Michaels was hit by lightning last Thursday in Eau Claire while hosting his show from a golf club. Michaels told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he was sitting at a metal-mesh table when he was hit. [read more]

(by Bob McCurdy) A friend in Sioux Falls forwarded an article from WARC (World Advertising Research Center) last week titled, Video Impact: The Value of Mass Marketing Compared to Targeting, which detailed an in-depth study conducted by SevenOne Media, one of Europe’s leading sales organizations for audiovisual media. The goal was to determine if dollar-for-dollar, “targeting” or “broadcasting” generated more revenue. [read more]

Entercom and the NFL's Houston Texans have agreed to extend their current partnership which means SportsRadio 610 (KILT-AM) and 100.3 The Bull (KILT-FM) in Houston will continue to carry all Texans games. Plus, Mega 101 FM (KLOL-FM) in Houston will broadcast all games in Spanish. The new multi-year extension runs through the 2027 season. [read more]

Cumulus Nashville is bringing Clay Travis back to WGFX/104.5 The Zone in Nashville to cover pre-mornings 5A-6A. Travis got his start in radio as co-host of the popular 3HL on WGFX in 2010. The program will lead into The Wake Up Zone, which airs weekdays from 6A-10A.  [read more]
 
WRRM-FM/WARM 98.5 will be waking up Cincinnati listeners in a new way starting Monday when "The WARM Morning Show with Jim and Amanda” debuts. The program features Co-Hosts Jim Day, top-rated WRRM personality and morning show producer, and Amanda Orlando, who joins WARM 98.5 from sister station WNNF-FM/NASH FM 94.1 in Cincinnati, where she was Midday Host and APD.  [read more]
 
Adams Radio Group has moved heritage Classic Rock “BIG Classic Rock” to a new frequency in Salisbury-Ocean City. The station is now simulcasting Classic Rock on 25,000 watt 107.7.
