According to The San Diego Reader, Tegna has no interest in staying in the radio business, and the KFMB-FM morning show is already looking for work. Tegna (formerly known as Gannett) bought KFMB-FM and AM along with TV Channel 8 for $325 million last December (Kagan says the radio part of the deal was $22 million). [read more]
 
 
 
Globecom Media President Mark Porter tells Radio Ink the company is purchasing KKHA-FM in Bay City, which is located in Southeast Texas. KKHA is currently owned by Tomlinson/Leis Communications. Globecom owns KIOX-FM in El Campo Texas. Porter is a former Radio Ink Rising Star. [read more]
 
The Duluth News Tribune is reporting that longtime talker Ed Schultz has died of natural causes at the age of 64. After getting his start in Television, Schultz moved over to talk radio at WDAY in Fargo. In 2004, Schultz took his radio show nationwide. [read more]
 
The WFAN afternoon drive host returned, in part, because he was launching his own app and would be able to use the show as a way to promote it. The Twitter newbie posted a message to his 83,000 followers that the launch is still on track for next month. "The Mike’s On app is right on schedule. It will debut the last week in August. The morning team, syndicated by Compass Media Networks, continued its summer tour with this sold-out event from "The Razor" in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Free Beer and Hot Wings “Morning Show at Night” tour started in Nashville at the world-famous Wildhorse Saloon, traveled to Grand Rapids, Albany, Portland, ME, and Green Bay. Next up is the Jersey Shore with 105.7 The Hawk on July 13. The show is heard on 45 stations. [read more]

Benztown is bringing the voice of sportscaster Vic “The Brick” Jacobs (pictured left) to radio stations across the U.S. in a 30-second daily feature This Day in Sports History. The segment will be available to stations through Benztown’s Adrenaline Sports Imaging Library. [read more]
 
 
Milwaukee Sports station The Big 920 (WOKY) announced Thursday it has formed a broadcast partnership with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. Beginning with the 2018-19 AHL season, all 76 regular season games and Calder Cup Playoff contests will air live on The Big 920. [read more]
 
Did you know there's a website with a map of pirate radio stations in Brooklyn where listeners can tune into their favorite illegal radio station? Brooklyn is a hotbed for pirates and the FCC has been trying to close as many of them down as possible. Their efforts are either falling short or those behind the illegal operations simply don't care about the consequences. [read more]
