Mike and about a half dozen other Beasley employees were at the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night when the shooting took place. The CW Network is delaying its planned two-night broadcast of the iHeartRadio Music Festival following the Las Vegas shooting. The event was held Sept. 22 and 23 in Las Vegas and was set to be broadcast this Wednesday and Thursday as part of the CW's fall launch. [read more]
 
A GoFundMe page that will provide relief and financial support to the victims and families has been set up by Las Vegas authorities. The current goal is set at $1,000,000. Beasley Media's Community of Caring Initiative will donate $5,000 dollars to the fund, and the company is encouraging listeners to donate as well. Beasley owns six radio stations in Las Vegas. Media Monitors is reporting that both ABC and NBC made the top five of their weekly chart of radio advertisers. ABC was second airing 37,679 commercials on radio stations all across the country while NBC was fifth airing 30,927 spots. [read more]
 
Cox Media Group has named Rob Babin, currently CMG Miami Radio’s VP/General Manager, as their Regional VP for Radio, reporting to Executive VP Bill Hendrich. Babin will oversee CMG’s Houston, Long Island, San Antonio, and Tampa radio markets, in addition to Miami.  [read more]
 
Two of talk radio's longest-running and most successful hosts got together last week when Rush Limbaugh appeared on Fox News for a two-part interview with Sean Hannity. Premiere says Rush helped Hannity draw impressive ratings for his show and even mentioned the ratings bump he caused for Hannity on his show Monday afternoon. Both hosts are syndicated by Premiere. Robby Bridges has signed a contract extension as Director of FM Programming, of Cumulus’ Detroit cluster, which includes Hot AC WDVD, Country WDRQ, and Classic Country WDRQ-HD2. Bridges is also on Cumulus’ Hot AC and Country format SWAT teams, and anchors PM drive on WDVD. [read more]
 
FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has appointed Eric Burger to serve as the agency’s Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Burger will advise Pai and the agency on technology and engineering issues, together with the Office of Engineering and Technology. [read more]
 
The changes are at Louisville Public Media, which operates 89.3 WFPL News Louisville, the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, and the Ohio Valley ReSource. Erica Peterson, WFPL’s environment reporter since 2011, has been promoted to assignment editor. Two other changes have also been announced. [read more]
