Arizona Senator John McCain returned to the Senate, after being diagnosed with brain cancer, to vote on repealing Obamacare. McCain called for more civility from his colleagues in Washington. In her latest report to investors Wells Fargo analyst Marci Ryvicker says radio revenue "is slow but improving." Ryvicker expects Entercom's Q2 revenue to be off 2% with the Charlotte market up 1%. She's also expecting CBS Radio to be down 3.5% for the second quarter. [read more]

The WABC New York talk host was arrested Tuesday morning outside of the Mayor’s residence, Gracie Mansion. Cumulus promoted the arrest in a press release, stating, "The arrest took place just after 8 a.m. while Sliwa, who also serves as the Reform Party chairman, was attempting to serve Mayor Bill De Blasio legal documents regarding the Working Families Party ballot line. Newell Normand is trading in his badge for a microphone. Entercom's WWL in New Orleans has hired Normand to host middays, taking over for longtime host Garland Robinette who's retiring. Normand spent 37 years with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He'll officially retire as Jefferson Parish Sheriff August 31 and start his new radio hosting duties Monday, September 11. Consultant Randy Lane first heard sisters Serene and Pearl on a podcast and knew they had natural talent. They host a personality-driven show for music-formatted stations. The 7 p.m.-12 midnight program airs Monday through Friday, hosted by sisters Serene Allison and Pearl Barrett and co-host Danny Valdes. [read more]
 
Tonia O’Connor is promoted to the newly created position. She joined Univision as EVP of Distribution Sales and Marketing in 2008. O’Connor spent more than a decade with Gemstar-TV Guide, where she served in a number of roles, including EVP of distribution, responsible for negotiating technology and intellectual property agreements and programming deals. Ohana Media Group in Anchorage has hired Sandy Baker as Sales Manager for OMG’s South Central Alaska cluster. Baker spent the past year working in the freight industry and prior to that spent over 15 years with Morris Communications (now owned by Alpha Media) in Anchorage and Wasilla. [read more]
