Boys will be boys, as the saying goes. It was not a proud moment for radio Wednesday on Radio Row at The Mall of America, although it certainly is getting two sports radio hosts a ton of national publicity. The incident resulted in iHeartMedia's sports station getting kicked off Radio Row. A question for managers around the country: Is this good publicity? [read more]
 
 
Ever since it was announced that he hired David Mueller, who a jury believed groped Taylor Swift at a concert meet-and-greet, Larry Fuss has been the subject of many national news articles. The stories, like this one in Newsweek and this one in The Daily Beast point out the rage from Swift fans that is now aimed at Fuss for hiring Mueller. He's even received death threats. [read more]
 
Late Wednesday, Pandora announced major cost-cutting changes were on the way. About 5% of the workforce will be losing their jobs, most likely in advertising sales and client services. The company is calling it an "organizational restructuring," that will result in a savings of $45 million every year. [read more]
 
Despite the loss, SiriusXM's Q4 revenue was up 8% to $1.4 billion for a 2017 revenue total of $5.4 billion, also an increase of 8%. CEO Jim Meyer was very happy with the results. "The fourth quarter capped a strong year for SiriusXM and was our best quarter for self-pay subscriber growth in five years. We exceeded all of our 2017 subscriber and financial guidance." Entercom and the Chicago Bulls have announced that 670 The Score will be the team's new flagship station. The agreement runs through the 2020-21 season and begins Saturday when the Bulls take on the Clippers. Cumulus backed out of its deal with the Bulls when it filed for bankruptcy, stating the deal was unprofitable. [read more]

Market President Melissa Forrest tells Radio Ink, “Bob is a proven market performer and we look forward to many more years of top ratings in a very competitive San Diego Market."
