Those are the words of iHeartMedia CFO Richard Bressler. And behind those words are iHeart's 850-plus radio stations in 170 markets, some of the biggest syndicated names in the business, gigantic festivals and concerts, iHeartRadio, a billboard company, Katz, and Premiere. That's what Bressler reported on iHeart's Q2 earnings call. iHeartMedia revenue was up 1.9% to $884.4 million compared to $867.9 million in Q2 of 2016. The increase was due to higher national revenue, more programmatic buying and an increase in trade and barter. Local revenue was down. Bressler said Q3 is pacing down 1.6% at this moment in time. Saga Communications net revenue from radio in Q2 was $30.3 million compared to $30.9 million in 2016. CEO Ed Christian said he did telegraph that Q2 would be choppy but it's still painful to report a down quarter. "The good news is there is good news." [read more]
 
 
Fresh off the sale of its remaining TV stations and the purchase of 8 radio stations in Charleston, Hilton Head and Beaufort, SC, Saga is getting ready to announce even more radio station buys. CEO Ed Christian says he's been spending a lot of his time looking for stations. [read more]
 
In addition to the investment (the amount was not disclosed), Entercom says it will provide DGital with "significant annual marketing and promotional support" across its radio platform, which at the moment includes 126 radio stations in 28 markets. DGital Media was launched in May of 2015 by former DialGlobal/Westwood One co-CEO's Spencer Brown and David Landau. There will be no management changes at DGital.  [read more]
 
The company awards Pat Walsh with a new deal through 2019 as Emmis' President and Chief Operating Officer. His base pay will be $625,000, with annual increases of up to 2.5%. [read more]

Following the closing of the new auction window for FM translators, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said over 1,000 stations applied. "These translators will enable many of these AM stations to broadcast local programming to their communities at night for the first time." [read more]
 
If you only operate a radio station for one day a year are you really a radio station? On Thursday, the FCC took up the matter of WRAX-FM in Lake Isabella, Michigan which has filed for a license renewal. The problem is the Commission says the station only operated one day a year since it was initially licensed seven years ago. The station is owned by Radioactive (Randy Michaels). [read more]
 
Lazer Broadcasting is purchasing KWNZ-FM, KNEZ-FM, and KZTI FM, and Big Horn Media is buying KRZQ-FM from Times-Shamrock Communications. MVP Capital represented Times-Shamrock in both transactions. [read more]

According to the ABC-TV affiliate WGOW-FM morning show co-host Jim Reynolds has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse. A police affidavit states Reynolds, his wife and daughter got into an altercation over the daughter's phone use. [read more]
 
Charlie Huero has signed a new multi-year agreement as afternoon host and APD at CBS Radio's KOOL-FM in Phoenix. Huero began his run at KOOL-FM in 2011 when he was appointed APD and midday host. He's also worked in La Crosse, Milwaukee, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Antonio. [read more]
 
Marcia Keegan has been named vice president, national radio programming and production at ESPN Radio. She will oversee all talk programming content on the national network. She will retain responsibility for ESPN’s packaged show productions which handles approximately 1,000 hours of programming produced by outside vendors. [read more]
 
Paul Cannell is the new PD at Alt 92.3 /WZRH-FM and NASH FM 106.1/WRK in New Orleans. Cannell has worked as a PD and host for stations in Wilmington, NC, Columbia, SC, Richmond, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. He was also Digital Managing Editor for WKBU, New Orleans, and for Townsquare Media’s six stations in Shreveport. [read more]
 
She’ll be on-air talent for iHeart stations Mix 96.9 and 104.7 KISS FM. Lady La previously worked as morning host for KALV-FM as well as for KKFR-FM. “It’s obvious to me that Phoenix wants Lady La back on the radio,” said Mat Mitchell, Program Director for 104.7 KISS FM and Mix 96.9.
