Local advertising spending in New York City will exceed $11.5 billion in 2018, spread across TV, cable, direct mail, radio, mobile, and nine other media, according to BIA. Radio's over-the-air piece of that $11.5 billion pie will be $769.7 million, according to BIA. That's down from $780 million in 2017. [read more]
 
BMI says it has once again broken revenue records by generating $1.199 billion for its fiscal year that ended June 30. From that revenue, BMI distributed and administered $1.118 billion in royalties to its songwriters, composers, and publishers, an increase of $95 million (9%). For over 30 years, Mike Pintek was the host of The Mike Pintek Show on KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh, weekdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In May of last year, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but continued to host his show. [read more]
 
Thirty-year vet Bill Gentry is the new Market Manager for Cumulus' six stations in Birmingham. He replaces David Walls who retired. Gentry joins Cumulus from Alpha Media in Louisville where he was the also Market Manager. [read more]
 
Entercom Orlando has announced a pair of new appointments. Dana Taylor will assume the role of PD for MIX 105.1 (WOMX-FM) and John O’Connell will fill the same position for FM 101.9 (WQMP-FM). [read more]
 
 
The Deja Vu Show, featuring the top-rated afternoon host on New York’s WBLS-FM, has launched into syndication. In her new show for Urban AC music formats, Deja Vu will provide female listeners a mixture of entertainment, lifestyle, and positive affirmation. [read more]
 
Savannah’s Hot 98.3 in Greensboro, NC, has a new show — Jared and Katie in the Morning. The duo are joined on air by Man Kisser Matt (Matt Wells), intern Hugs O'Houlihan (Thomas Marvin), and Jason Goodman.  [read more]
 
Kevin Sheehan was part of the morning show on The Team 980 in Washington, DC, when Dan Gilbert owned the station. A few months ago the station was sold to Radio One and changes were made. Sheehan was one of the changes. [read more]
 
 
Thanks to Jeff Bentoff for sharing this great community service event the station pulled off. Students at a school assembly received more than 7,000 supplies, including 2,500 crayons and 1,600 pencils thanks to Radio Milwaukee's "No Empty Backpacks" drive which collected more than 50,000 supplies to benefit eight schools.
