The FCC says Conroy Dawson must pay a $25,000 penalty for operating a pirate radio station at 97.5-FM in Paterson, New Jersey. Over a year ago, New York field agents investigated Dawson's operation which identified itself as “WBLR – Big Link Radio 97.5 FM.” They have concluded his argument against paying the fine doesn't fly. Sun Broadcast Group has signed a multiyear extension with Chief Operating Officer Julio Aponte. Under the agreement, Aponte will continue to head the daily operations of Sun’s New York City and Boca Raton offices as well as oversee the company’s sales department. He's been COO since 2014. The Beasley station is bringing in Erin Vermeulen to join Big Jim O’Brien on the WCSX-FM morning team. Her start date is Monday, July 10. The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters sent 20 representatives to meet with Major General Chris Hughes, the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Cadet Command, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. 88Nine Radio Milwaukee’s 414Music.fm launched its new HD2 broadcast radio channel, and mobile and online stream, Tuesday. The station plays at least one Milwaukee artist every hour and supports Milwaukee bands via its weekly on-air 414 Live interview and performance show, and its annual Milwaukee Music Awards.
