On the heels of the merger with CBS Radio, the Entercom management team, along with founder Joe Field, rang the closing bell at The New York Stock Exchange yesterday. They've been losing money for years and now with an owner nobody can find, and bills left unpaid, five Sarnac Lake radio stations will be auctioned off in two weeks. The Saranac Lake Radio Company, which celebrated 90 years in September, and was the voice of the community, is a shell of the radio company it once was and is hardly broadcasting today. [read more]
 
With the holidays right around the corner, Amazon.com is using radio heavily as it continues to try to take shoppers away from brick and mortar retailers. Amazon aired 30,811 commercials on radio stations across the country last week, according to Media Monitors. [read more]
 
 
With all the format flips to Christmas music taking place, Radio Ink would like to thank Ken Benson and the P1 Media Group for sharing their list of the top-tested Christmas songs of 2017. Ken tells us that seven of the top 10 Christmas songs were released between 1945 and 1963. [read more]
 
iHeartMedia's 106.7 LITE FM is now celebrating the holidays. The Bob and Christine Morning Show, along with Rich Kaminski and the Radio City Rockettes, flipped the Christmas music switch marking the beginning of the Christmas season in New York City. The station will play Christmas music through Christmas Day. [read more]
 
Beasley's Magic 98.3 in Somerset, New Jersey is now playing holiday tunes. PD Debbie Mazella said, "We are all very happy to continue the annual tradition of becoming Jersey's Christmas Station and play non-stop holiday music to add to the excitement of the season." When the station is not playing Christmas tunes the format is "Today’s Hits &Yesterday’s Favorites." [read more]

This year it will be held on Friday, December 1 at the Rock & Reilly’s Rooftop Lounge in the Renaissance Hotel in New York City. Entercom has announced a special, commercial-free programming feature, Count on Country, that will be broadcast Tuesday, November 28. The one-hour show will feature content from country music artists and it'll be hosted by Big & Rich. WTOP has launched a new app for both Apple and Android devices, developed in partnership with jācapps. The app provides D.C. listeners with the latest news, traffic and weather from around the D.C. region. The Country Radio Broadcasters has named Jennifer Hays (Music Director/On Air, KCTR/Billings, MT), Mark Wells (PD KCYT-FM/Fayetteville, AR), and Jamie Jackson (Promotions Director 95.3 KRTY/San Jose) as recipients of the 2018 Rusty Walker Scholarship. 105.1 The Bounce’s Bikes for Kids Holiday Collection will kick off with four live broadcasts from selected metro Detroit locations beginning on November 20. The collections will be held on December 1, 8, and 15. The final collection and distribution day will take place on December 16. [read more]

The Charlotte Alternative Rock station has named Tamo Sein Assistant Program Director, Music Director, and midday host. Sein will broadcast from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. She joins iHeartMedia Charlotte from Richmond, Virginia's XL102. [read more]
