When do radio's on-air hosts go too far? When advertisers start to cancel is certainly a red flag. Every dollar is precious these days and when advertisers start to distance themselves from a station or host, that is never a good thing. In the wake of two recent employee suspensions for insensitive comments, WEEI will be holding sensitivity training for all of its employees Friday. [read more]
 
 
Advertisers are not the only group upset with the sports station. WEEI carries Boston Red Sox games through the 2023 season. And that gives the team every right to express their “frustration and disappointment” with Entercom, according to president and CEO Sam Kennedy. [read more]
 
We are told that, even though The Trustee did in fact object to all bonuses Cumulus plans to pay out, the court has already approved the bonuses for the majority of the employees, and those will be paid out as scheduled. The remaining bonuses, which involve high-level executives will be addressed by the court on March 12. [read more]

John Patrick has joined Steve Smith and Mary Liz Nolan as a co-anchor of the  morning show, 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., on WGAC (95.1FM/AM 580) in Augusta, GA. He began his new position on February 13. Patrick most recently served as the host of Buzz on Buzz at WRDW-AM in Augusta. [read more]
 
Cumulus Media’s WIOV-FM/I-105 in Lancaster, PA, announced the passing of longtime morning show host Jerry Murphy, Wednesday, at age 61. Murphy was known as “Murph” of the Murph & Casey Morning Show on I-105. He hosted the show with Casey Allyn for 19 years.  [read more]
 
 
Valentine is the new Program Director for WBHT 97.1/95.7, Cumulus’ Top 40 station in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Valentine is a 22-year radio veteran who most recently spent five years as the on-air Assistant Program Director and Music Director at iHeartMedia’s Y100 in Miami. Aaron Leiker's new company 25-7 Media is purchasing KLMR AM &FM in Lamar, Colorado, and KBLJ-AM and KTHN-FM in La Junta, Colorado, from Cherry Creek Radio. It's Leiker's first foray into ownership, although he's been hooked on radio since he was a freshman in high school. We wanted to know why this 35-year-old jumped into radio ownership, when all we hear about these days is how younger people are only interested in digital. So we asked him. [read more]
