CBS Radio has been getting a lot of national press the last few days and it has nothing to do with the Entercom merger. One day after her story went viral, Country Artist Lindsay Ell spoke to The New York Times about being cancelled by CBS Radio in Sacramento because she's dating Bobby Bones, who's syndicated by iHeartMedia. And CBS Radio is trying to do a little damage control over the incident. [read more]

This time on the radio station it purchased from Jeff Warshaw's Connoisseur Media in Box Elder, SD, back in 2013. Pandora purchased KXMZ-FM for $600,000 hoping to skirt around ASCAP and BMI fees by being considered a regular radio company. That never worked out. The pure-play streamer is now selling the station to Haugo Broadcasting in Rapid City for $300,000. [read more]

Today, CBS owns WFAN in New York City and it's the gold standard when it comes to Sports Talk stations. The Home Depot ran 47,000 fewer spots last week than it did two weeks ago, however, 63,293 commercials on radio stations all across the country was still enough to take the top spot on the Media Monitors weekly chart. Lowe's was a distant second with 37,256, followed by GEICO (36,701), JC Penney (31,273), and AutoZone (27,160). There were no major movers on the chart last week. [read more]

iHeartMedia's SportsTalk 790 in Houston will shuffle its lineup next month. Josh Innes, who's been holding down afternoons since October 2016, will move to mornings as of July 17. From 2013 until he was fired last year, Innes hosted a very popular afternoon show on CBS Radio's WIP in Philadelphia. [read more]
 
Rickey Smiley will host the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner and Show on September 7 at the 2017 Radio Show in Austin. Smiley last hosted the Marconi Awards back in 2015 in Atlanta. [read more]

The company has launched a new format from a translator operating at 94.7 in Charlotte. The station is called "94.7 Smoke" and the format is Southern Rock. Smoke launched at 6 a.m. on Monday with 10,000 songs in a row commercial free. [read more]
 
In New Orleans, Cumulus moves its NASH Country station from 92.3 to 106.1 and launches a new Alternative Rock station, ALT 92.3 FM, on WRKN-FM. Market Manager Pat Galloway said, “WRKN-FM stands tall at 100,000 watts and 2,000 feet, twice as big as any radio station in New Orleans or Baton Rouge." [read more]

WXRT's Wendy Rice is retiring from the CBS Chicago station. Rice is the host of the popular Saturday Morning Flashback program. Her final show will be this Saturday. She's been at WXRT for 35 years. Rice began her career at XRT as an intern in 1978; she later made a stop in Peoria, at WWCT-FM before returning to Chicago and joining the WXRT air staff in 1982. [read more]
 
After serving the ministry as a technical consultant for five months, WAY-FM Chief Operating Officer Lloyd Parker has announced that Dean Sims has joined the executive team as Chief Technology Officer. He starts July 1. Sims previously served as the Director of Global Technology Architecture at Compassion International in Colorado Springs. [read more]
 
Beasley Media in Las Vegas is shifting Aimee Montgomery from Star 107.9 to Lite 101.5 FM where she will become the new midday host. Montgomery, who joined Star 107.9 in 2015, most recently served as a co-host of the morning show and worked as Brooke and Jubal’s local On-Air Liaison/Producer. [read more]
