WBEB-FM will soon be under the ownership umbrella of CEO David Field's company after a three-way deal was announced Thursday involving Entercom, Beasley Media, and Jerry Lee Radio. The price-tag for the perennial number-one station in Philadelphia was $57.5 million. [read more]
 
 
Along with David Kurtz and Marlin Taylor, Jerry Lee launched WBEB back on May 13, 1963 (the calls were WDVR at the time) for $28,500. On Thursday, Entercom purchased the station for $57.5 million. How many consultants can say they were with one station for 38 years? We know of at least one...Bill Moyes. He consulted Jerry Lee and his team for nearly four deacdes, including three name changes. Mark DiCiero is the new weekend midday host for AC station Sunny 106.5 (KSNE-FM/Las Vegas). DiCiero will broadcast Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. He joins iHeartMedia Las Vegas from KMXB-FM. [read more]
 
Alex Flores has been named Senior Vice President, Creative for BMI. Flores will be based out of BMI’s Los Angeles office and will report to Mike Steinberg, Executive Vice President, Creative & Licensing, beginning August 6. [read more]
 
SiriusXM and Kia Motors America are extending the relationship between the two companies for five more years, through the 2023 model year. Customers will continue to get a three-month introductory SiriusXM All Access subscription with the purchase or lease of SiriusXM-equipped vehicles. WEBL-FM in North Mississippi is being sold by Mighty Media Group to Tom Freeman. Freeman is the current G M of the station. Upon FCC approval, Freeman and his wife Allison will take over ownership of the station they call "The Rebel." Freeman's career includes management positions at 23 stations in Hattiesburg, Jackson, Tupelo, Oklahoma City, Topeka, and Memphis. [read more]
 
Dan_Franks16Dan Franks is the co-founder of Podcast Movement, an annual conference -- or the ultimate gathering spot -- for anyone interested in or involved with podcasting and the podcast industry. The event is now in its fifth year and takes place next week in Philadelphia. Back in 2014, a few hundred people attended the show. Next week there will be thousands -- along with nearly 100 vendors that have something to do with podcasting.
