New FM Translator Window To Open This Summer Pai NAB 2017That's according to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai now that the Incentive Auction on the TV side is over. Pai did not give a specific date but said it will be for Class C and D stations, and the necessary IT work is being done now and it’s going well. [read more]

NAB Says Attendance Up Over 2016 NAB ShowThe National Association of Broadcasters announced preliminary attendance of 103,443 for the show taking place this week in Las Vegas. International attendees accounted for 26,714 of the attendees, while 1,518 people were registered with the media. 161 countries are being represented. The final 2016 attendance was 102,513 with 26,781 international attendees. [read more]

Judge Rejects Bubba BubbaIn the Bubba The Love Sponge ratings-tampering case, Judge James Whittemore has rejected an attempt by Bubba to have Nielsen's expert witness David Haas disqualified as an expert witness. Bubba claimed Haas is no expert because he doesn't have experience in the radio industry or the measurement of radio audiences. The judge says I don't think so. [read more]

Bubba, Nielsen Trial Set For 2018 Bubba-Nielsen (2)U.S. District Judge James Whittemore has set Todd Clem's ratings-tampering trial for the term in Tampa that begins January 2, 2018. The discovery cut-off date is August 10 and a pre-trial conference will be held December 8. [read more]

Fitz’s Nationally Syndicated Shows Continue FitzSun Broadcast Group wants the industry to know that, despite his contract not being renewed by Entercom Seattle, Fitz's three syndicated shows continue. Fitz is heard on over 190 affiliates. The Fitz Morning Show airs on about 20 stations, The Hitlist with Fitz airs weekends on 80 affiliates, and his daily Country news feature, Nashville Minute airs on 94 stations. [read more]
