At the end of the year, Westwood One will be losing a big-name radio brand. Following the expiration of its distribution agreement with Westwood, CBS News Radio will team with Skyview Networks for distribution, inventory management, and sales. CBS News Radio delivers news, talk, information, and special events coverage to more than 1,000 affiliates, including 13 stations in the top 15 markets. Since Mary Berner took over Cumulus nearly two years ago, one of the company's main goals has been to improve ratings. Cumulus owns some of radio's most recognizable brands, including WPLJ and WABC in New York, WLS in Chicago, KGO in San Francisco, and many others. [read more]
 
 
Entravision's radio segment saw a revenue decrease in the second quarter of $2.4 million. The company says the big drop was due to decreases in local and national advertising revenue, and a decrease in political advertising revenue. Local revenue was down 9% and national dropped 19%. [read more]
 
Meruelo Media has closed on the sale of KPWR-FM, Power 106 Los Angeles from Emmis Communications. The station has been programmed by Meruelo for the last month under an LMA. Meruelo paid Emmis $82.8 Million for the station.  [read more]

The past 10 of those years Chris Claus has been VP and Market Manager for the Entercom New Orleans cluster. Prior to joining Entercom, Claus served as VP and General Manager for stations in San Diego, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Entercom did not announce his replacement.  [read more]
 
Smitty O’Loughlin, Market Manager of Community Broadcasters Elmira cluster, after 36 years in the radio industry – the last four years with Community Broadcasters – will be retiring August 15. O’Loughlin began his radio career in Fort Smith Arkansas in 1981. He has worked in Arkansas markets, and also Missouri, finishing up his illustrious career in Elmira-Corning. [read more]
 
The executives who’ve been promoted are Rich O’Brien (pictured right), who has been elevated to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Programming and Affiliate Relations, and Eric Faison who has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Programming and Affiliate Relations. The Atlanta station has brought in Charly Morgan to head up their midday show. Morgan is currently the morning drive co-host on “Your Georgia Country” (WNGC/Athens) and has also been handling midday fill-in on B98.5 since May 2017. [read more]
