Most radio deals close with a simple press release announcing that the deal has closed and life goes on somewhat quietly. Not the CBS/Entercom deal as CEO David Field, COO Weezie Kramer and President of Programming Pat Paxton got right to work, unveiling a slew of changes they had obviously been getting ready. The deal is done: The merger of Entercom and CBS Radio has closed. The merger was announced in February, and the companies got DOJ approval after agreeing to divest stations in Boston, San Francisco, and Sacramento. The FCC gave its go-ahead on November 10. That's the CEO's new salary as of the closing of the merger with CBS Radio, according to this SEC filing on Friday. Field will also have the opportunity to earn an annual performance bonus of 200% of his base salary every year. Entercom's merger with CBS makes it the second largest radio company in the country behind iHeartMedia. [read more]

Entercom makes a big move in a big market as its merger with CBS Radio closes, flipping Top 40 92.3 AMP Radio to Alternative as ALT 92.3. ALT debutes with 10,000 songs commercial-free; the station is also streaming at alt923radio.com. [read more]
 
WJMK-FM is now "The New 104.3 JAMS, Chicago’s #1 for Throwbacks." The previous format was Classic Hits. To kick off the new format, the station is airing 10,000 songs in a row. [read more]
 
More Entercom news, this time focusing on Minnesota. The company has announced a fully integrated radio partnership with MLB’s Minnesota Twins. This represents the team’s return to its original broadcast partner, WCCO-AM 830, which aired games for the club’s first 46 seasons through 2006. [read more]
 
 
 
Bob Richards has been named VP/Market Manager of Emmis Indianapolis, which includes 1070 The Fan, B105.7, 93 WIBC, and 97.1 Hank FM. Meanwhile, Taja Graham, currently DOS for Music for the Emmis Indianapolis cluster, has been promoted to VP/Director of Sales for the cluster. [read more]

Bonneville has promoted “Jazzy” Jim Archer as Program Director for 99.7 Now KMVQ-FM/San Francisco.  Archer has served as KMVQ's APD and Music Director since 2011. He was also PD of KYLD/San Francisco from 2005 to 2008. [read more]
 
iHeartMedia Washington, DC has flipped Variety station 97.1 WASH-FM to holiday music and will broadcast around-the-clock traditional festive favorites by Mariah Carey, Burl Ives, and Johnny Mathis as well as new holiday music from artists like Sia and Train. [read more]
