CBS News Chief White House Correspondent to Address Forecast Luncheon

Radio Ink is proud to announce a keynote presentation that promises to be one of the highlights of Forecast 2019, being held November 14, 2018 at the Harvard Club in New York City.

CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett will deliver a fascinating session, delving into topical news and events important to broadcasters in a compelling onstage presentation. Attendees can anticipate a unique and entertaining approach that should have the audience buzzing well into the Top 40 reception and beyond.

“We are especially excited to have Major Garrett join us at Forecast this year,” said Radio Ink EVP/Publisher Deborah Parenti. “Coming on the heels of the midterm elections and in the midst of so much ongoing debate affecting every aspect of both business and personal life, the timing could not be more appropriate.”

One of Washington’s best known and most admired news reporters, Major Garrett was named chief White House correspondent for CBS in 2012 and reports across all CBS News broadcasts and platforms. In addition, he is host of "The Takeout," a weekly podcast and radio show about politics, policy, and pop culture. “The Takeout” is heard east to west, from WCBS-AM to KIRO-FM, and from KMOX-AM and WCCO-AM, to name just a few.

Garrett's knowledge of the DC Beltway and the ramifications of political policy-making on all aspects of community and business life is deep and diverse. In addition to a host of international issues, he has reported on past and current domestic affairs, including health care and the Veterans Administration, racial issues, and criminal justice reform. He has traveled all over the world with presidents and covered several presidential elections.

Before joining CBS, Garrett spent eight years at Fox News as chief White House correspondent. Before that, he served as White House correspondent for CNN during the administrations of George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Additionally, he spent time as senior editor and congressional correspondent for U.S. News and World Report and as a congressional reporter and deputy national editor for The Washington Times (1990-95). Earlier in his career, Garrett was a reporter for The Houston Post, Las Vegas Review-Journal, and the Amarillo Globe-News.

Major Garrett has authored three books — Common Cents, with former Rep. Tim Penny (D-MN), The 15 Biggest Lies in Politics, and The Enduring Revolution, with a fourth to be released in mid-September. Titled Mr. Trump's Wild Ride: The Thrills, Chills, Screams, and Occasional Blackouts of an Extraordinary Presidency, it chronicles the Trump administration from the inside perspective of a White House press correspondent.

Garrett will speak at the annual Forecast luncheon, to be held in the elegant Harvard Hall at the Harvard Club. This year's luncheon is sponsored by Nielsen and Triton Digital.

Forecast brings together the best and brightest talent in broadcasting and advertising to forecast the coming year, and to discuss the trends and momentums that will affect ratings and revenue. From Washington to Wall Street, automobiles to mobile devices, Forecast focuses on what’s ahead in the broadcast community’s future and how to prepare for its opportunities and challenges.

This is the industry’s only forum that allows radio owners, CFOs, group executives, managers, and Wall Street analysts to gather for an open exchange on conditions and expectations for the coming year.

The conference concludes with the networking event of the year, the annual “Top 40” cocktail reception, honoring Radio Ink’s 40 Most Powerful People in Radio.
