As if she wasn't busy enough growing her company, Beasley Media CEO Caroline Beasley is taking on even more responsibility. She's been elected NAB joint chair by the NAB Board of Directors. NRG CEO Mary Quass was re-elected Radio Board first vice-chair and Neuhoff CEO Beth Neuhoff was re-elected Radio Board second vice-chair. Beasley was Radio Ink's 2017 Executive of The Year. Quass was voted Radio's #1 leader in 2017. Neuhoff has consistently been one of Radio Ink's Most Influential Women in Radio. [read more]

According to Law360 a federal judge in Texas significantly trimmed the lawsuit brought by Cumulus against syndicated talker Michael Baisden. Cumulus said it overpaid Baisden by $1 million. Back in 2014 Cumulus filed the lawsuit in Dallas, alleging Baisden was accidentally paid for 15 months after he left. Cumulus called it an accounting error of approximately $66,666.67 for each of the fifteen payments that were made to the host. [read more]

Five radio identities have been named by the Arizona Broadcasters Association in ABA's 28th Annual Hall of Fame class. The 2017 inductees, who were chosen based on their outstanding contributions to broadcast journalism, are Jan D’Atri, Bob Davies, Steve Goddard, Allen Kath, and Michael Owens. [read more]
 
Longtime Salem, Oregon, radio host Warren Franklin has joined the News-Talk team at 1430 KYKN. Franklin will provide news and commentary as the AM drive host. He will also broadcast live from remote locations 15 times monthly. [read more]
 
Rex Long will be the new PD and on-air talent for 98.9 Magic FM in Colorado Springs. Long joins Magic from Cumulus in Montgomery where he has been PD for the past seven years at WHHY-FM. He was also PD for KCDD-FM in Abilene. Long started his radio career in Dallas as on-air talent and PD at Kiss-FM. He starts his new job Monday, June 26. [read more]
