After both local and national backlash in the press, CAVE-FM Manager Paul Lotsof is defending his decision to air a PSA that advises people how to hide pictures that may be determined to be child pornography. In his editorial, Lotsoff, who pulled the PSA this week says, "I’m delighted with the exposure that we have received. If nothing else it has really put tiny Benson on the map." [read more]

Not only did Emmis have a down Q4 (see next story), revenue for the company's first quarter looks even worse. Emmis' Q1 includes March, which came in down 5%, April, which was down 14%, and May, which is pacing down 9%. [read more]
 
Those are the words of the normally upbeat Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan after reporting Q4 earnings Thursday. There really wasn't much good news, with all three months and nearly every metric down for Emmis in the quarter. The Emmis CEO, who is selling the company's only Los Angeles radio station for $83 million, said while it was painful, it was the right decision. "We'll be more focused, we'll have more flexibility, and we'll be able to put more resources toward NextRadio. It was the best decision for our people and our listeners. It was the right decision." WSB-FM/Atlanta will be kickstarting the city’s day with a new-look morning show, starting Monday, May 15. Drex Renner has joined the station and Tad & Drex Mornings will air weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. The focus will continue to be issues that matter to women in Atlanta, music, and celebrity news. CBS RADIO Las Vegas has extended the contract of Jon Que and, in conjunction with the signing, promoted him to Music Director for 98.5 KLUC, and Assistant Program Director and Music Director for 98.5 HD-2 Da Shaka, Vegas’ Island and Reggae Station. These new roles are in addition to his weekday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on-air shift with 98.5 KLUC. [read more]
